INSET - 101 Useful free and easy to use websites and web resources
This is an invitation for Teachers and TAs to spend a day exploring websites and resources that can be used relatively intuitively by them and their pupils at short notice.
The criteria for the resources chosen in this selection are that they are engaging, interactive, free-to-use, and most, if not all, could also be usefully used by parents to support their children’s learning.
These resources will enable Teachers and TAs to be confident that they can have access to a range of useful and engaging web resources which they can use immediately with children without having to set anything up.
I have run this both as a course and also as a flexible 1 day workshop in school.
I am currently offering this around England an all-inclusive rate, i.e. includes any travelling and accommodation needed at the usual MEC rate of £450. I am very happy for schools to get together and share costs as long as I have one point of contact and one invoice to send for the full amount. If you are elsewhere please contact me to discuss rates.
In school I start with a spreadsheet of the websites and we discuss school needs. We usually don't do a whistle stop of all websites as this doesn't allow for any hands-on which is the most useful for many people.
The day can be run with the same group of people all day, which is what I am normally asked to do, or it may be that different groups come for each session. I would expect to start at about 9am and finish by 3:30pm. If an INSET is required as well then the charge is an extra £75 for an hour. Alternatively, I can arrive for a 10am start and include an hour's INSET for the usual rate of £450.
The areas covered are: EYFS, Literacy, Maths, Science, Art, Drawing/Paint, Geography, History, Music/Sound, Videos, Search Engines for children, More Ideas (just in case I didn't show you enough there are lots more ideas on these sites!) These are all websites/programs that I am very familiar with so I can answer most questions. However, with so many sites on my list there are upgrades that I don't always notice so sometimes I will need to get back to the school with further information. I do not bring hand-outs as most of these sites are either straight-forward to use or I can direct you to help on the internet. If you have other areas you wish included please let me know.
I work with children and have an up-to-date enhanced CRB so that can be built into the program but should be discussed first if possible.
To book me please email me or use the contact form stating which day you you like me to visit your school and your contact details. If you have alternatives that would be useful.
Buying the spreadsheet.
If you buy me in to work in your school I will obviously leave you the spreadsheet to put onto your school intranet. I do ask you not to share it more widely.
If, however, you would like to buy the spreadsheet without inviting me to your school and work through the websites at your leisure you can also do that. It is just one side with the links embedded so don't forget you are paying for the information not the size of the file.
The spreadsheet on its own costs £20 - click below and once you have paid you will be taken to a page to download it.
If you buy it and then decide to buy me in I will deduct the amount you paid.
Also, if you buy the spreadsheet you can sign up to a newsletter and you will get updates.
